A poem about the river

A Japanese calligraphy piece with a poem about a river. The meaning of the poem is,

“I hope the world will always be this peaceful. A fisherman steering a fishing boat, how precious this daily life is! ”

This poem was written by Minamoto no Sanetomo in the 13th century. He was a genius poet who became the Shogun of the Kamakura Shogunate at the age of just 12, and composed famous poems while being tossed about and torn apart by the complex world of politics, and was assassinated at the young age of 28.

This work is for sale. Proceeds from the sale will help support the running of my private school for children where I teach Japanese calligraphy and mathematics.
